Storage Snapshots

Snapshots provide point-in-time backups of your volumes and VPS instances. Create, manage, and restore snapshots to protect your data.

Overview

Snapshots features:

  • Point-in-Time: Capture exact state at specific moment
  • Incremental: Only changed data stored after first snapshot
  • Fast Creation: Snapshots created in seconds
  • Quick Restore: Restore in minutes
  • Cost-Effective: Only pay for changed data

Creating Snapshots

VPS Snapshot

  1. Navigate to VPS instance
  2. Click Snapshots tab
  3. Click Create Snapshot
  4. Enter name and description
  5. Click Create

Snapshot created within 1-2 minutes.

Volume Snapshot

  1. Go to Storage > Block Storage
  2. Select volume
  3. Click Create Snapshot
  4. Provide name
  5. Click Create

Restoring from Snapshots

Restore VPS

  1. Navigate to Snapshots
  2. Select snapshot
  3. Click Restore
  4. Choose:
    • Restore to existing VPS (overwrites)
    • Create new VPS from snapshot
  5. Confirm

Restore Volume

  1. Select volume snapshot
  2. Click Restore
  3. Choose destination:
    • Existing volume (overwrites)
    • New volume
  4. Confirm restore

Snapshot Pricing

$0.05/GB/month for incremental storage:

Example:

  • First snapshot: 100 GB = $5/month
  • Second snapshot: 10 GB changed = $0.50/month
  • Total: $5.50/month

Best Practices

  1. Regular Snapshots: Weekly or before changes
  2. Descriptive Names: Include date and purpose
  3. Test Restores: Verify snapshots work
  4. Retention Policy: Delete old snapshots
  5. Pre-Deployment: Always snapshot before deployments
